Bucket Linkage - Remove and Install

When the pin assembly is removed, the linkage assembly may swing out of the bucket. To prevent possible personal injury, do not stand in front of the linkage assembly when the pin assembly is being removed. |
- Position the bucket and the stick on the ground.
- Remove nuts (2) and retaining bolt (4) from bucket pin (3).
- Remove bucket pin (3). Link assembly (1) will swing forward when the bucket pin is removed.

Illustration 2 g01012102 - Attach a suitable lifting device to link assembly (1). Attach a suitable lifting device to the left (8) and right link assemblies (9). Raise link assembly (1) until the link assembly is in a horizontal position.
- Remove nuts (7) and retaining bolt (5) from pin (6). Remove pin (6) from the link assemblies and the rod end of the bucket cylinder. Remove link assembly (1). The weight of link assembly (1) is approximately
27 kg (60 lb) .Show/hide tableIllustration 3 g03749541 - Remove seals (10) and bearings (11) from link assembly (1). Remove seals (12) from link assembly (1). Use Tooling (A) (not shown) to remove bearings (13) from link assembly (1).

Illustration 4 g03749902 - Remove nuts (16) and retaining bolt (14) from pin (15). Use a hammer and a punch to drive pin (15) into the stick until the left-hand link assembly (8) is free. Remove the left link assembly (8). Remove pin (15) from the stick and right link assembly (9). Remove the right link assembly (9).

- Install seals (16). Use Tooling (D) to install bushings (17).
- Apply Tooling (C) on the bearings and seals in the stick.

Illustration 7 g03749902 - Use the following procedure in order to position the right link assembly (9) and left link assembly (8):
- Move the left link assembly (8) until the link assembly makes contact with the stick.
- Move the right link assembly (9) away from the stick.
- Measure the clearance between the right link assembly (9) and the stick. The clearance should not be more than
0.8 mm (0.03 inch) . - If the clearance is less than
0.8 mm (0.03 inch) , the addition of shims will not be required. - If the clearance is more than
0.8 mm (0.03 inch) , the addition of shims will be required. Install the shims that are required between the right link assembly (9) and the stick. - Apply Tooling (C) on pin (15), and install pin (15). Align the retaining bolt hole in pin (15) with the retaining bolt hole in left link assembly (8).
- Install retaining bolt (14) and nuts (16).

- Apply Tooling (C) to the bearings and seals of link assembly (1).
- Use Tooling (B) to install bearings (13) and seals (12).

Illustration 9 g01012102 - Prior to installing link assembly (1), be sure that the grease fitting in the rod end of the bucket cylinder is facing away from the stick.
- Attach a suitable lifting device to link assembly (1), right link assembly (9) and left link assembly (8). The weight of link assembly (1) is approximately
27 kg (60 lb) . Position the link assemblies on the rod end of the bucket cylinder. Apply Tooling (C) on pin (6). Install the pin that connects the link assemblies together. Align the retaining bolt hole in pin (6) with the retaining bolt hole in left link assembly (8). Install retaining bolt (5) and nuts (7).Show/hide tableIllustration 10 g01012084 - Apply Tooling (B) on bucket pin (3). Position link assembly (1) at the bucket and install bucket pin (3) and the O-ring seals. Align the retaining bolt hole in bucket pin (3) with the retaining bolt hole in the bucket. Install retaining bolt (4) and nuts (2).

Illustration 11 g00356648 - Use the following procedure in order to tighten all the nuts:
- Position the outside nut even with the end of the retaining bolt or
0.5 mm (0.02 inch) beyond the end of the retaining bolt. - Tighten the inside nut against the outside nut to a torque of
70 ± 15 N·m (50 ± 10 lb ft) .
- Position the outside nut even with the end of the retaining bolt or
- Lubricate the pins for the bucket control linkage. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7421, "Bucket Linkage - Lubricate" for the proper procedure.
