Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Loosen V-band clamps (6) enough to allow compressor housing (5) and turbine housing (8) to rotate.
- Apply Tooling (A) to manifold bolts (4) on the turbocharger. Attach a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (1). The weight of the turbocharger is approximately
34 kg (75 lb) . Position turbocharger (1) on the engine. - Align compressor housing (5), cartridge assembly (7), and turbine housing (8). Install bolts (4) in the turbocharger and the manifold. Do not tighten bolts completely.
- Tighten V-band clamp (6) for the turbine housing to a torque of
14 ± 3 N·m (10 ± 2 lb ft) . - Tighten manifold bolts (4) to
55 ± 5 N·m (41 ± 4 lb ft) . - Position compressor housing (5) so the air outlet is zero degrees from top vertical.
- Install V-band clamp (6) for the compressor housing to 90 ± 10 degrees outboard from the bottom vertical.
- Tighten V-band clamp (6) for the compressor housing. Tighten the nuts to a torque of
14 ± 3 N·m (10 ± 2 lb ft) . Use a soft hammer to lightly hit around the diameter of V-band clamps (6).Show/hide tableIllustration 3 g01031556 - Install tube assemblies (2) and (3) to turbocharger (1).
