Replacement Procedure for Fuel Injection Pump

    Illustration 2g02507140

  1. Mark the initial position on the fuel injection pump and wheel case housing before removing the fuel injection pump. Refer to Illustration 2.

    Illustration 3g02507202

  2. Remove the gear casing cover (1) of the fuel injection pump. Refer to Illustration 3.

    Illustration 4g02507480

  3. Mark the position of the gear (A) of the fuel injection pump with respect to gear (B) as shown in the Illustration 4.

  4. Completely slacken the lock nut (2) of the drive pinion.

Note: Do not slacken screws (3) of the drive pinion of the fuel injection pump. These screws specify the precision setting of the fuel injection pump set by the manufacturer.

  5. Remove the fuel injection pump.

  6. Read off the injection angle on the fuel injection pump that was removed.

  7. Read off the injection angle on the new fuel injection pump.

Note: Before you replace the fuel injection pump read off the injection angle. Compare the injection angle on the existing (removed) fuel injection pump with the injection angle in the new fuel injection pump. Read off the imprint on the engine side of the fuel injection pump. Difference of “Angle of new fuel injection pump” and “Angle of old fuel injection pump” gives you the mounting angle of the new fuel injection pump. If the difference is positive value, then the injection timing is “Later injection time” (toward the engine). If the difference is negative value, then the injection timing is “Earlier injection time” (away from the engine).

  8. Install the new fuel injection pump.

  9. Check the marked position of the drive pinion of the fuel injection pump. Refer to Illustration 5.

  10. Screw on and tighten nut (2).

  11. Check injection time.

  12. Mount gear casing cover (1) of the fuel injection pump.
