Inlet and Exhaust Valve Guides - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the inlet valves and the exhaust valves. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Inlet and Exhaust Valves - Remove and Install".

  1. Use Tool (A) in order to remove the valve guides from the cylinder head.

  1. Repeat the procedure for the remaining valve guides.

    Typical example

  1. Put the valve guide in position. Carefully tap the valve guide in order to start the installation. Use Tool (A) and Tool (B) to seat the valve guide in the cylinder head.

  1. Check the protrusion of the valve guides. The valve guides should protrude 7.70 to 7.85 mm (0.303 to 0.309 inch) above the valve spring recess.

  1. Repeat the procedure for the remaining valve guides.

    Note: After installing the unfinished valve guides, you must ream the valve guides to the finished diameter. Refer to Specifications, "Cylinder Head Valves" for the finished diameter of the valve guides.

End By: Install the inlet valves and the exhaust valves. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Inlet and Exhaust Valves - Remove and Install".
