Improved Pacbrake Operation can be Attained by Removal of Breather Bolt or by Rerouting Solenoid Wiring on Some C-15 and C-16 Truck Engines {1129}

Usage:

C-15 6NZ
Truck Engines:
C-15 (S/N: 6NZ)
C-16 (S/N: 7CZ)

Removal of Breather Bolt will Eliminate Interference with Pacbrake Operation.

One of the bolts that attach the breather to the underside of the valve cover may interfere with the operation of the Pacbrake. Remove the bolt (1) that is shown in Illustration 1. Use 8T-9022 Silicone Gasket to fill the empty bolt hole. The three remaining bolts will hold the breather to the cover.

Reroute the Solenoid Wires in order to Eliminate Interference with the Pacbrake Housing.

Note: View the engine from the side opposite the camshaft for the following instructions.

Wires on the Pacbrake solenoid may rub against a gusset on the brake housing when the wires are routed around the right side of the brake solenoid with the wires in the five o'clock position. If this problem occurs, remove the wire connector from the solenoid. Remove the locator pin from the bottom of the connector. Reroute the wires to the left side of the brake solenoid in the eight o'clock position. Reattach the wire connector to the solenoid. Verify that there is no contact between the solenoid wires and the housing.
