Engine Monitoring System
A comprehensive, programmable engine monitoring system is provided. The Electronic Control Module (ECM) monitors parameters. The ECM can initiate an action, if a specific operating parameter extends outside an acceptable range. The three following possible actions for the ECM are available: "WARNING", "DERATE" and "SHUTDOWN". However, not all of the actions are available for certain parameters.
According to the application, the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) can be used to select the desired actions that are available for the ECM. The Cat ET can be used in order to program the monitoring level. This tool can also be used to program the delay time for each action.
