Use the following procedure in order to adjust the clearance between the flywheel ring gear and the magnetic pickups.
- While the engine is stopped, check the position of the gear tooth. Ensure that the tooth of the flywheel ring gear is centered in the opening for the magnetic pickup.
- Install the magnetic pickup. Ensure that the magnetic pickup is in contact with the tooth of the flywheel ring gear.
Note: Some magnetic pickups have flat bottoms and some magnetic pickups have small tips. If the magnetic pickup has a small tip, ensure that the tip contacts the center (highest point) of the gear tooth.
- Unscrew the magnetic pickup .
Unscrew the magnetic pickup to the following amount. ... 1 to 1 1/4 turns
- Tighten the locknut.
Tighten the locknut to the following torque. ...
45 ± 7 N·m (33 ± 5 lb ft) The adjusted clearance should be the following range. ...
1.58 ± 0.17 mm (0.062 ± 0.007 inch)
