Sea Water Strainer - Clean/Inspect

Usage:

3608 1ZD
The sea water strainer must be clean in order to provide proper cooling. Clean the sea water strainer more frequently if the vessel is being operated in water which is shallow or dirty. Refer to the OEM recommendations for more information about inspecting and cleaning the sea water strainer.

The sea water strainer has screens that can be rotated by the hand wheels. Rigid scrapers remove buildup from the screens when the hand wheels are rotated. The strainer must be cleaned when the strainer is under positive pressure.

  3. Rotate the hand wheels several times.

  4. Allow the debris to be flushed out of the strainer.

  5. After the debris is flushed, close the drain valve.
