Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the implement pumps. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Implement) - Remove".
- Remove the swing pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Swing) - Remove".
At operating temperature the implement hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic system before hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed. |

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Put identification marks on all lines, all hoses and all tubes for installation purposes. Cap all lines, hoses, and tubes that are disconnected in order to prevent foreign material from entering the hydraulic system.
- Disconnect hose (2) from gear pump (3) .

- Disconnect hose (4) from pump drive (1) .
- Attach a suitable lifting device and a hoist to pump drive (1) at lifting eyes (5). Pump drive (1) weighs approximately 870 kg (1918 lb).

- Remove 16 bolts (6) and the washers that secure pump drive (1) to the flywheel housing.
- Remove 12 bolts (7) and the washers that secure pump drive (1) to the support brackets.
- Carefully slide the splined input shaft of pump drive (1) out of the torsional coupling on the flywheel. Remove pump drive (1) .
