Engine speed sensor

(1) Speed sensor

(2) Locknut

(3) Magnetic core

(4) Gear

(5) Flywheel housing

(A) Clearance in millimeters


NOTICE

Perform this maintenance with the engine stopped.


  1. Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. Slowly tighten speed sensor (1) into flywheel housing (5) until magnetic core (3) contacts gear (4) .

  1. Turn speed sensor (1) counterclockwise. The turn should be approximately 3/4 of a rotation.

  1. Temporarily tighten locknut (2) .

  1. Set the engine speed dial at position 1 (LOW IDLE position).

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Ensure that the engine speed is 800 rpm.

  1. If the engine speed is not 800 rpm, tighten speed sensor (1) up to 1/3 of 1 turn.

  1. Tighten locknut (2) to a torque of 25 N·m (18.4 lb ft).

  1. Ensure that the engine speed corresponds to the position of the engine speed dial.
