NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Note: O-ring seals, gaskets, and seals should always be replaced. A used O-ring may not have the same sealing properties as a new O-ring seal. A reconditioning procedure should not be degraded because of a low cost component such as an O-ring seal or a gasket. Use 1U-6396 O-Ring Assembly Compound during the assembly procedure.

  1. Install Tooling (A) to the hydraulic tank. The oil will be prevented from leaking, while you install the hose assemblies.

  2. Install Tooling (B) to the top of the hydraulic swivel. Use a strap and a suitable lifting device in order to place the hydraulic swivel in the machine. The weight of the hydraulic swivel is approximately 590 kg (1300 lb).

  7. Install the new O-ring seals to the hose assemblies that are located at ports 3, 1, 5, 7, and 9. These ports are located on the left side of the hydraulic swivel.

Note: Refer to illustration 5 for the port locations of the hose assemblies before installation.

  8. Connect the hose assemblies that are located at ports 9, 7, and 5.

  9. Place the hose assembly that is located at port 3 in position. Connect the hose assembly with the two half flanges, the four washers, and the four bolts.

  10. Place the hose assembly that is located at port 1 in position. Connect the hose assembly with the two half flanges, the four washers, and the four bolts.

  11. Install the new O-ring seals to the hose assemblies that are located at ports 4 and 2 at the rear of the hydraulic swivel.

Note: Refer to illustration 5 for the port locations of the hose assemblies before installation.

  12. Connect the hose assembly that is located at port 4.

  13. Connect the hose assembly that is located at port 2 with the four half flanges, the eight washers, and the eight bolts.

  14. Install the new O-ring seals to the hose assemblies that are located on the right side of the hydraulic swivel. These hose assemblies will be installed at ports 10, 8, 6, 3, and 1.

  15. Connect the hose assemblies that are located and ports 10, 8, and 6.

  16. Connect the hose assemblies that are located at ports 3 and 1 with the four half flanges, the eight washers, and the eight bolts.

  17. Remove Tooling (A) from the hydraulic tank.

  18. Fill the hydraulic tank with oil to the correct level.

End By:
