Gerotor Motor Leakage - Test

Usage:

VT60 AXD

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns.

To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.

Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before operating any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

After collecting all fluids in suitable containers, dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Inspect the rotate circuit for external leakage. If a leak is found, perform the necessary repairs. If there is no sign of leakage, proceed to the next step.

  1. Check each control valve for the proper operating pressure. Refer to Service Manual, "Control Valve Pressure ( Hydraulic Rotator) - Test". The control valve must be operating at the proper pressure in order for this test to be valid.

  1. Adjust the pressure of the host machine for the rotate circuit to 12000 ± 500 kPa (1740 ± 70 psi). Refer to the Service Manual for the host machine for the proper procedures.

  1. Open the jaws of the work tool. In order to prevent rotation, rotate the work tool to a horizontal position. Place the work tool on the ground. Place downward pressure on the work tool in order to prevent the work tool from rotating.

  1. Remove hose assembly (2) from the coupling on the work tool. Plug the hose and cap the fitting on the coupling. This will prevent oil from returning to the hydraulic tank.

Note: Hose assembly (2) is the connecting line from the host machine to the coupling on the work tool.

Note: You must check gerotor motor (5) before you check gerotor motor (4).

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (6). Plug hose assembly (6) .

  1. Install Tooling (A) to adapter assembly (7) .

  1. Start the engine of the host machine and operate the machine until the hydraulic oil reaches normal operating temperature.

  1. Attempt to rotate the work tool to the left. Note any increase in the hydraulic pressure.

  1. If there is an increase in the hydraulic pressure, the gerotor motor (5) must be repaired. Refer to Service Manual, "Gerotor Motor - Disassemble".

  1. Stop the engine of the host machine.

  1. Release the hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to the Service Manual for the host machine for the procedure to release the hydraulic pressure.

  1. Remove Tooling (A) from adapter assembly (7). Connect hose assembly (6) to adapter assembly (7) .

Note: Perform the following steps after you have verified that gerotor motor (5) is good or after you have repaired gerotor motor (5) .

  1. Remove swivel tee (3). Plug swivel tee (3) .

  1. Install Tooling (A) to adapter assembly (8) .

  1. Start the engine of the host machine.

  1. Attempt to rotate the work tool to the left. Note any increase in the hydraulic pressure.

  1. If there is any increase in the hydraulic pressure, you must repair the gerotor motor (4). Refer to Service Manual, "Gerotor Motor - Disassemble".

  1. Stop the engine of the host machine.

  1. Release the hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to the Service Manual for the host machine for the procedure to release the hydraulic pressure.

  1. Remove Tooling (A) from adapter assembly (8) .

  1. Install swivel tee (3) to adapter assembly (8) .

  1. The air must be purged from the work tool before the tool is returned to operation. Refer to Service Manual, "Hydraulic System Air - Purge" for the proper procedure.

  1. Start the engine of the host machine. Raise the work tool from the ground. Operate all of the functions of the work tool. Inspect the work tool for hydraulic leaks. Repair any hydraulic leaks before you operate the work tool.
