  1. Check the condition of all of the parts of the blade cylinder for wear or damage. If any of the parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Replace all O-ring seals with new O-ring seals.

Note: Make sure that the grooves for the seals in head (19) are thoroughly clean prior to assembly.

  2. Install seal (22) and seal (23) in head (19). Apply 4C-4032 Bearing Mount Compound in the bore in the head for lip type seal (25). Use Tooling (D) to install lip type seal (25) in head (19). Make sure that the sealing lip is toward the outside of the cylinder.

  3. Put clean hydraulic oil on lip type seal (25), seal (22) and seal (23).

  4. Put head (19) in position on cylinder assembly. Tighten cover (16) by hand. Carefully install rod assembly (15) in head (19) and cylinder assembly (14). Loosen cover (16). Remove the head, the cover and the rod assembly as a unit from the cylinder assembly.

  5. Install piston (13) on rod assembly (15). Lubricate the threads on the end of the rod assembly with 2P-2506 Thread Compound. Install locknut (11). Use Tooling (B) to tighten locknut (11) to a torque of 1480 ± 98 N·m (1090 ± 75 lb ft).

  6. Lubricate the inside diameter and the outside diameter of seal assembly (12) with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease. Install seal assembly (12) on piston (13).

  7. Install ring (21), O-ring seal (20) and O-ring seal (24) on head (19).

  8. Use Tooling (A) to install cylinder assembly (14) on rod assembly (15). Extend the rod fully. Use Tooling (C) to tighten cover (16) to a torque of 740 ± 80 N·m (545 ± 60 lb ft).

Note: If the hole in the cylinder assembly does not align with the hole in the cover, a new hole must be drilled. If a new cover (16) is used, a new hole must be drilled. Use a 4.5 mm (.18 inch) drill bit. Drill in the original hole in the cover. Drill the new hole to the required depth in the cylinder assembly. The combined depth of the hole is 12.00 ± 0.50 mm (.472 ± .020 inch) from the outside surface of the cover to the bottom of the hole.

  9. Apply 8T-9016 Gasket Sealant in the hole in the cover and the cylinder assembly. Install lock ring (26).

  10. Lower the temperature of the sleeve bearings (10) and (18). Use Tooling (D) to install sleeve bearings (10) and (18) in the pin bores. Install the bearings until each bearing is centered in the pin bore.

  11. Use Tooling (D) to install lip type seals (17) and (9) in both sides of the pin bores. Install the lip type seals until the seals are 0.50 ± 0.50 mm (.020 ± .020 inch) below the outside surface of the pin bore.

  12. Install O-ring seal (7) in connector assembly (4). Put connector assembly (4) in position on the blade cylinder. Install two bolts (5).

  13. Install O-ring seal (8) in flange (6). Install O-ring seal (3) in connector assembly (2). Put connector assembly (2) and flange (6) in position on the blade cylinder. Install two bolts (2).

  14. Remove the blade cylinder from Tooling (A). The weight of the blade cylinder is 25 kg (55 lb).

End By:

  1. Install the blade cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Blade Cylinder - Install" in this manual.
