Installation Procedure

1. Make sure the mating surfaces of the upper structure and the undercarriage frame assembly are thoroughly clean and free of dirt and debris.

2. Install four suitable size guide bolts (16) in the mounting bolt holes in the upper structure and the undercarriage frame assembly as shown. Install the guide bolts 90 degrees apart.

3. Put a coat of 1U-8846 Liquid Gasket on the mating surface of the swing gear and bearing of the undercarriage frame assembly. Put 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound in the locating dowel hole in the undercarriage frame assembly.

4. Using a lift truck, move undercarriage frame assembly (15) in position under the upper structure. Block the undercarriage frame assembly so it can not move.

NOTICE
Failure to properly assemble parts or failure to follow established procedures can lead to damage of the parts and assembly. To avoid damage to parts, always identify and mark the parts so that they can be installed in the same location. Ensure that gear surfaces align. Never force parts during assembly.

5. Remove the pins from the tubes of Tooling (B). Lower the upper structure down in 13 mm (0.5 inch) increments with Tooling (B). Align the guide bolts in the upper structure with the bolt holes in the undercarriage frame assembly. Move the undercarriage frame assembly to obtain proper alignment.

6. As the upper structure is being lowered, check the alignment of the pinion shaft with the swing gear and bearing. Also, check the alignment of the dowel in the upper structure with the dowel hole in the swing gear and bearing.

7. Put a coat of 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound on the threads of all bolts (13) that hold the upper structure to the undercarriage frame assembly. Install all bolts (13) and tighten them to a torque of 570 ± 59 N·m (420 ± 44 lb ft).

8. Connect grease tube assembly (12) to the block on the front of the upper structure.

9. Reinstall clamp (10) over swivel boot. Reinstall two hose fittings (11) and lock bolt (9) in swivel joint group.

10. Reinstall four hose fittings (8) in the swivel group.

11. Connect four hose assemblies (7).

12. Remove Tooling (A) from the machine.

    Note: Refer to Operation & Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation & Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" for the proper filling procedure and the proper levels for the hydraulic oil system.

13. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level.

14. Start the machine, and raise the boom. Remove Tooling (B) from under the stick.

15. Reinstall right hand boom cylinder (6). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom Cylinder - Install".

16. Remove Tooling (B) from under the rear of the machine.

17. Remove cover (3) and thrust plate (4) from each final drive.

18. Install sun gear (5) in each final drive.

19. Make sure the machined surface of the ring gear in the final drive and cover (3) is thoroughly clean, free of dirt and debris and is dry. Put a bead of 1U-8846 Liquid Gasket around the machined surface of the ring gear. Put cover (3) in its original position on the ring gear.

20. Put 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound on the threads of bolts (2) that hold cover (3) in position. Install bolts (2) and the washers that hold the cover. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 29 ± 2 N·m (22 ± 2 lb ft).

Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" for the proper filling procedure and the proper levels for the hydraulic oil system.

21. Fill each final drive with oil to the correct level.
