Vacuum Breaker Moved From Horizontal To Angular Position On Hydraulic Tank{5056,5076}

Usage:

5130 (5ZL),
5130B (4CS) Excavators and Front Shovels

Reference: July 2, 1990; Page 1; "Welding On Fuel And Hydraulic Tanks".

117-9152 Breaker Valve (1) on 141-1064 Hydraulic Tank and Filter was moved from horizontal location D, shown in View C, to angular location B in View A of Illustration 1.

117-9152 Breaker Valve (1) in location (B), positioned 60 degrees from horizontal, prevents oil leakage from the breaker valve.

123-5676 Tank with 117-9152 Breaker Valve in location (B) is adaptable to 106-4858 Hydraulic Tank and Filter or 141-1064 Hydraulic Tank and Filter to first production 5130 (5ZL), 5130B (4CS) Excavators and Front Shovels.

106-4858 Hydraulic Tank and Filter, and 141-1064 Hydraulic Tank and Filter can be upgraded.

Rework Procedure To Change Position Of Breaker Valve

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from an explosion. Applying heat to a tank which has held flammable liquid, even when empty, can result in residual flammable liquid or vapor igniting with explosive force. Do Not weld or flame cut on any tank that has held flammable liquid without taking the proper precautions. Such as; filling the tank with either carbon dioxide or water.

-------WARNING!-------

NOTE: Read Service Magazine Article, referenced above, and Service Manual (SENR6655) before draining the hydraulic tank.

See Illustration 2.

1. Add 25.4 mm (1.00 in) Dia. hole (G). (Location B).

2. Fabricate boss assembly (H).

3. Weld boss assembly to tank at location B.

NOTE: Make sure hole (G) in tank aligns with bottom of boss assembly. (Section P-P).

See Illustration 3.

4. Remove 6E-6226 or 117-9152 Breaker Valve (1) and 3D-2824 O-Ring Seal (4) from location D.

5. Install 3D-2824 O-Ring Seal (4), and 6E-6226 or 117-9152 Breaker Valve (1) at location B.

6. Install 3D-2824 O-Ring Seal (4) and 9S-4183 Plug (O-Ring) (5) at location D.
