Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal.
- Remove six bolts (1) from water temperature regulator housing (5) .

- Remove cover (3) and outlet (2) from water temperature regulator housing (5) .
- Remove water temperature regulator (4) and the gasket from water temperature regulator housing (5) .
Note: Refer to the Testing and Adjusting Module for the correct procedure on testing the water temperature regulator.

Installation Procedure

- Inspect the condition of the gasket. Replace the gasket, if necessary.
- Install water temperature regulator (4) and the gasket in water temperature regulator housing (5) .

- Install six bolts (1) in water temperature regulator housing (5) .
- Fill the radiator to the correct level with coolant.
