The snap rings may be distorted or missing in the 1359312, 1406816 and 1406889 Retainer Assemblies used in 5130 and 5230 Ground Engaging Tools. Due to manufacturing problems, the snap ring inside the retainer assemblies may be distorted or twisted sufficiently so that they will not be able to drop into the grooves of the mating pins and positively lock them in place. The loss of retention will allow the pins to fall out of place and result in the loss of bucket edge covers or tips. In some instances, the snap rings may have been left out of the assemblies.
Action Required
Order new 1359312, 1406816 and 1406889 Retainer Assemblies and replace all parts in existing stock with date codes older than 12/01/98. Assemblies with date codes 12/01/98 or newer are good parts. Scrap all parts removed from Parts Stock with date codes older than 12/01/98. The part numbers have not changed.

Submit one claim for all 1359312, 1406816 and 1406889 Retainer Assemblies removed from Parts Stock.
Parts Disposition
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
