Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Field service reports indicate that the 233-9748 Friction Disc may fail after first life rebuild, even though the disc passes reusability guidelines.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of the problem, but an interim repair has not yet been defined.

When rebuilding the transmission, install new 233-9748 Friction Discs. There are five 233-9748 Friction Discs in the transmission, three in clutch number 3, and two in clutch number 4.

If you have experienced this problem, refer to the following information

  • Submit a Dealer Solution Network (DSN) ticket quoting CPI number 441466

  • Request that the Tier 1 representative, transfer your ticket to an available Tier 2 representative for Caterpillar Underground Mining - Base Machine

  • The Tier 2 representative will request the machine serial number and machine operating hours
