Cat® Terrain v7 for Grading and Loading Caterpillar

File Transfer from Office to Machine

Usage:

- TER
The product supports the use of the following methods of file transfer:

FTP - FTP uses a broadband network (either radio or cable connection) to transfer files. This method needs a minimum of an FTP server running on the display in service mode. In service mode, Windows Explorer will be open, but the onboard software will not be running.

Cat MineStar System - Refer to Systems Operation, RENR9562, "Cat® Terrain Office Software" for information regarding file transfer.

USB Flash Drive - The G610 display module utilizes a USB connection to transfer most of the files to the display. The method used to install the onboard software on the G610 differs depending on whether the display is new or is being upgraded.

METS - Refer to Systems Operation, RENR9966, "CAESultra METSmanager User Guide" for information regarding file transfer. METS is not supported in v4.x.

HyperTerminal - HyperTerminal is used with a cable connection to the serial port (RS232) on the D3:C4 Nav 10.4 monitor display, but can be set up to use the radio network. Special Instruction, REHS7210, "Installation and Configuration of the Software for CAESultra v4.1" describes HyperTerminal used with a cable connection. Do not use HyperTerminal in Terrain v4.5

Priority

Files are sent according to the priority of the file type.

Beginning with the most important, the order is as follows:

1 - File Status

2 - Productivity

3 - Diagnostics

4 - Snippets

Merging Files

Large numbers of snippet files may build up without being sent, for example when the network is down. When these files build up, the onboard software automatically checks the length of the file transfer queue and shortens the queue as much as possible.

For example, when the FTP queue contains 50 snippet files, the following actions occur:

  • The onboard software merges files with the same type and group number.

  • The onboard software deletes the old files and places the new, merged file back in the queue.

  • The process is logged in the Diagnostic File.

  • The files appear in the "Snippets" diagnostic window.
