A Lanyard to Secure Operation and Maintenance Manual Is Now Used on Certain 740 EJ and 745 Articulated Trucks {0374, 7312}

Description Of Change: A lanyard to secure the Operation and Maintenance Manual on the trainer seat is now used the machines listed above. The lanyard is attached to the seat frame and helps in better retention of the Operation and Maintenance Manual in the cab seat.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

    (A) Seat folding mechanism
    (B) Top mounting screw

  1. Locate backrest mounting plate on the right-hand side - seat folding mechanism (A) near the seat belt. Remove and retain top mounting screw (B). Remove and discard lock washer (C).

  2. Attach the ring terminal end of lanyard (1) to the backrest mounting plate on the right-hand side - seat folding mechanism (A) using top mounting screw (B) that was retained in Step 1.

  3. Take the free end of lanyard (1) behind the seat, as shown in Illustration 3.

    Note: Ensure that lanyard (1) does not get trapped in the seat folding mechanism (A).

  4. Pass the free end of lanyard (1) through the trainer seat bracket (D) from the base of the seat towards the top of the seat.

    Note: This will prevent lanyard (1) from getting trapped or damaged by seat folding mechanism (A).

  5. Attach Operation and Maintenance Manual (F) by inserting the free end of lanyard (1) into one hole of cable splice sleeve (2). Then, insert it into the ring hole at the top of Operation and Maintenance Manual (F) and back into the other hole of cable splice sleeve (2).

    Crimp cable splice sleeve (2) using pliers (T1) as shown in Illustration 5.

    Note: Ensure that no wires or sharp edges protrude from cable splice sleeve (2).

  6. Insert Operation and Maintenance Manual (F) in the rear seat pocket, as shown in Illustration 6.

    Note: The pocket flap will not close after Operation and Maintenance Manual (F) has been inserted.
