Introduction

This Special Instruction provides instruction to install 552-4604 Fire Extinguisher Mounting Gp on the machines listed above. Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Machine Preparation

  1. Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Move away from other operating machines and away from personnel.

  2. Lower the implements to the ground and turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.

  3. Allow only one operator on the machine. Keep other personnel away from the machine or in sight of the operator.

  4. Raise and lock the cab in the upright position by using the safety latch. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , UENR2333 , "Cab - Tilt" for the proper procedure.

  5. Release the pressure from the hydraulic system of the machine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual , SEBU9084, "System Pressure Release" for the proper procedure.

  1. Remove the fastener, films, and cover at the back left corner of the cab. Keep the fastener and cover.

  2. From outside of the cab, drill three 9 mm (0.35 inch) holes in the left side sheet according to Illustration 2.

  3. Insert the three mounts (1) to bracket (14). Insert with flange as shown in Illustration 3. Soapy water can be used to lubricate the mount if necessary.

  4. Install bracket (14) with mounts to the cab. One person will need to hold the bracket on the inside of the cab while another person inserts three bolts (6) with washers (3).

  5. Install three nuts (13) with washers (3) on to the bolts. Apply Loctite 242 (T1) to nut threads prior to installing. Torque to 28±7 N·m (248±62 lb·in) while another person holds the bolts with a backup wrench.

  6. Trim cover (19) to clear the newly installed bracket.

  7. Reinstall the modified cover (19) with fastener (16).

  8. Install four bumpers (7) to bracket (15). Install strap (12) with screw (8) and washer (5). Torque to 6±1 N·m (53±9 lb·in).

  9. Install bracket (15) to bracket (14) using four bolts (4) with washer (2). Torque to 28±7 N·m (248±62 lb·in).

  10. Install film (11) and film (9) to the left and right seat riser areas respectively.

    Note: If the ANSI film is required, use film (10) in place of film (11).
