Introduction

The problem that is identified below has a known permanent solution. Use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Certain Backhoe Loader machines may experience excessive leakage from the cylinder head or rod seals, due to contamination ingress through the wiper seal, which prevents the u-cup seal from properly sealing.

Solution

Upgrade the head wiper seal to a press-in design to eliminate the leak path around the outer diameter of the seal and also provide more sealing load on the rod. This press-in seal design also requires a new head part number to accommodate the new wiper seal. The new seal requires loctite to be applied to the seal groove and the new seal will need to be pressed into the head bore. Seal kit 324-0355 or the seals in the kit other than the wiper will need to be ordered to build up the new cylinder head.
