Safety Section

Do not perform any of the procedures until you have read the information in this publication. Understand and perform all safety instructions.

------ WARNING! ------

Do not operate or work on this machine unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact your Cat dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility.

Preparation

There are no service parts required to perform this update. However, an external USB memory device will be required, and software will need downloaded.

  1. To update the application file successfully, the application file must be downloaded from Caterpillar SIS web. In SIS web navigate to Service Software Files - Flash Files - Flash Filename Search. Search using the appropriate Cat software part number.

  2. Copy the .app file from the .zip file onto the external USB memory device.

Note: The .app file must be at the top level of the USB memory, it cannot be inside a zip file, a zip folder, a folder, or a sub folder.

Note: Ensure that the USB memory device has no security functions enabled, because the display cannot access encrypted USB memory.

Note: The USB drive must be FAT32 format. NTFS format cannot be read by the multifunction display. The drive format can usually be viewed using "Properties".

Installation Procedure

Note: Read the entire publication before beginning the procedure.
