Diesel engine exhaust contains products of combustion which may cause personal injury. Always start and operate the engine in a well ventilated area, and, if in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside. |
Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts. Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts. Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running unless otherwise specified. The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped. Attach a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the start switch and controls before servicing, repairing, or making adjustments to the machine. |
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement. Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine. |

- Move engine start switch (8) to the START position. Release the switch when the engine starts.
- Place the engine in ECO mode or low idle.
- Launch the Cat ET program on the computer.
- Select "Configurations", select "C.4.4 Industrial Engine", select "Fan Control", select "Cooling Fan Solenoid Minimum Current".
Note: The "Engine Cooling Fan Solenoid Minimum Current" and the "Engine Cooling Fan Solenoid Maximum Current" must be set to an equal low amperage and to an equal high amperage. This current will set the ECM electrical current output for the fan solenoid to the defined value.
- Double-click "Change Parameter Value".
- Increase the "Target Minimum" amperage and the "Target Maximum" amperage to the same value to lower the fan motor speed to 1000 ± 50 rpm. The approximate amperage for 1000 ± 50 rpm is, 0.8 amps.
- Check fan speed and adjust both "Target Minimum" and "Target Maximum" until fan speed reaches 1000 ± 50 rpm.
- Decrease the "Target Minimum" amperage and the "Target Maximum" amperage to the same value to raise the fan motor speed to 2100 ± 100 rpm. The approximate amperage for 2100 ± 100 rpm is, 0.12 amps.
- Check fan speed and adjust both "Target Minimum" and "Target Maximum" until fan speed reaches 2100 ± 100 rpm.
- Increase the "Target Maximum" amperage to the amperage noted in Step 13.
- Click "OK". Log out of the Cat ET program.
- Move engine start switch (8) to the OFF position.
- Remove the tooling from diagnostic port (9).
