(1) Bolt
-
Lubricate the threads of the bolt with 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound . Anti-Seize compound is not allowed on the bolt head, the face of the spacer, or the face of the impeller.
- Torque ... 370 N·m (270 lb ft)
(2) Spacer
(3) Diameter of the shaft at the seat area of the seal assembly ... 44.450 ± 0.020 mm (1.7500 ± .0008 inch)
(4) Seal assembly
- Stationary seal
- Lubricate the O-ring and the face seal with clean water.
- Use the 8T-3034 Water Pump Seal Driver and hand pressure in order to install the O-ring and the face seal as a unit in the pump housing bore. Ensure that the identification mark is oriented away from the seal group that is mounted on the shaft.
- Rotating seal
- Remove the spring from the seat.
- Put clean water on the seal as the only lubrication for assembly. DO NOT get any grease or oil on the seal faces.
- Do not stretch the rubber of the seal at installation. If the seal is stretched, the service life is shortened.
- Use the 8T-3034 Water Pump Seal Driver and hand pressure in order to push the seal on the shaft until the seal face makes light contact.
Note: The seal must rotate with the water pump shaft. Do not use any lubricant (except clean water) that will reduce the friction between the seal and the shaft.
- Install the spring for the seal assembly.
(5) Diameter of the impeller shaft at the location of the lip type seal ... 49.200 ± 0.020 mm (1.9370 ± .0008 inch)
(6) Seal
Lubricate the bore of the housing for seal (6) with a light amount of glycerin or an equivalent.
(7) Plug
- Torque ... 8 ± 1 N·m (70 ± 9 lb in)
(8) Diameter of impeller shaft ... 64.850 ± 0.020 mm (2.5531 ± .0008 inch)
(9) Diameter of the impeller shaft at the support end. ... 88.878 ± 0.013 mm (3.4991 ± .0005 inch)
(10) Thickness of thrust washer ... 11.85 ± 0.05 mm (.467 ± .002 inch)
Width of groove in the impeller shaft for the thrust washer ... 12.00 ± 0.05 mm (.472 ± .002 inch)
End play for impeller shaft ... 0.05 to 0.25 mm (.002 to .010 inch)
(11) Seal
Put a light coat of glycerin on the O-ring seal at assembly. Put a light coat of glycerin in the housing bore at assembly.

(12) Bore in shaft support bearings ... 89.22 ± 0.06 mm (3.512 ± 0.002 inch)
(13) Bore in impeller shaft bearings ... 65.15 ± 0.060 mm (2.565 ± .0020 inch)
(14) Dimension of bearings from surface of pump housing
- Dimension A ... 20 ± 1 mm (0.7874 ± 0.0394 inch)
- Dimension B ... 92.5 ± 1 mm (3.6417 ± 0.0394 inch)
- Dimension C ... 112.5 ± 1 mm (4.4291 ± 0.0394 inch)
- Dimension B ... 92.5 ± 1 mm (3.6417 ± 0.0394 inch)
(15) The shaft support bearing should be flush with the surface of the pump housing during installation.

Coupling assembly |
(1) Coupler shaft
- Align 6 holes in coupler spring pack (4) with the 6 holes in coupler shaft (1) . Install the coupler spring pack and the coupler shaft to the pump shaft by using 6 bolts (5) . Tighten the bolts to 130 ± 20 N·m (96 ± 15 lb ft).
- Install drive gear assembly (6) to coupler spring pack (4) with 8 bolts (2) and 8 hard washers (3) . Tighten the bolts to 30 ± 3 N·m (22 ± 2 lb ft).
- Install coupler bearing cap (7) . Install bolt (8) to coupler shaft (1) . Tighten the bolt to 30 ± 3 N·m (22 ± 2 lb ft).
