The hydraulic return oil filter has a bypass valve that is equipped with pressure switch (1). If there is a restriction in the oil filter or if the viscosity of the oil is high, the bypass valve in bypass valve housing (2) will open.
If the inlet pressure to the oil filter is greater than the outlet pressure by a specified amount, the bypass valve will open. When to bypass valve opens, the pressure switch (1) is closed, which sends a signal to the implement ECM (5). The implement ECM (5) then will alert the operator that the filter is in bypass mode on the Messenger screen.
Reference: See the hydraulic Specifications, "Oil Filter (Hydraulic Return)" for more information.
When the oil does not go through filter element (3), the debris in the oil can damage other components in the hydraulic system.
Correct maintenance procedures must be followed in order to make sure that the element does not become full of debris. Debris could stop the flow of clean oil to the hydraulic system. The filter is equipped with a drain (4). Drain (4) is used to drain the oil out of the filter before the filter element is changed.
