Generator Controller Configuration
Checking and/or changing the configuration of the generator size in the ECM using Cat ET.
- The switch on the generator controller box must be in the ON position
- The master disconnect switch and the ignition switch must be in the ON position.
- Hook the Comm III adapter to the service connector in the cab or engine compartment.
Note: Connecting Cat ET at the generator controller service connector, will cause a CAN bus error to display on the machine monitor.

The Hydraulic Lock Lever must be in the "UNLOCKED" position.

The "Magnet Control" button must be engaged.

Once Cat ET has identified the ECMs, select the "Magnet Control ECM" and click "OK".

After the ECM has been selected, click the configuration tool.

Double click"Configuration Group 1" to expand it.

If this value does not match the size of the generator that is on the machine, the value will need to be changed.
Double click this field if you need to change the value.

Enter the correct numeric value for the size of the generator on the machine.
Click "OK".
Cat ET will ask you if you are sure that you want to change the value.
Click "YES" if the value you entered is the correct.
- Click the disconnect button to disconnect ET.
- Disconnect the COMM III adapter from the service connector and replace the service connector cap.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the main disconnect switch OFF.
- The generator controller ECM should be correctly configured for the size of the generator on the machine now.
