Brake Accumulator - Remove and Install

Usage:

14M-3 E9S

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock.

  2. Release the system pressure.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components.

At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.

Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.


------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from the sudden release of high pressure oil.

Be sure the engine has been shut off for a minimum of five minutes to ensure that the accumulator pressure is zero.

The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Do not loosen or remove the valve or the cap from the top of the accumulator.

  1. Remove bolts (1) and guard (2).

  2. Disconnect hose assemblies (4).

  3. Remove bolt (5) and brake accumulator (3).

  4. Repeat Step 2 and Step 3 for the remaining brake accumulator.

  5. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5464, "Accumulator Discharging and Charging Procedures" for the correct discharging and charging procedures for the nitrogen in the accumulator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install brake accumulator (5) in the reverse order of removal.
