New VIMS software is now available for certain machines that are listed above. The new VIMS software has improvements that are listed below:
Note: Enter the part number of the files, when searching for the software and configuration files in SIS web. Entering the machines serial number will not always give the compatible configuration file for the flash file used on the VIMS platform.
Note: When searching for the latest production software in SIS web, in the flash software download page, click the "VIMS Software & Current Releases" link. This link will bring up the "dealer.cat.com" web page. Under "Related Links", click "VIMS 3G Production Software Compatibility Matrix". The VIMS 3G production flash file and production configuration compatibility matrix will pop up. Search for the correct software files for a specific machine type.
Note: Before using Communications Adapter 3 (CA3), make sure that the PC drivers and CA3 firmware have been updated.
Note: Use the latest version of Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) for the optimal machine software support and use "WinFlash" to flash the new software onto the module.
Note: The configuration files are flashed onto the VIMS module using the latest version of VIMSpc (2013A or later). Get the latest version of VIMSpc at: https://dealer.cat.com/en/products/technology/mining-technology-autonomy/health/vims-product-support-information.html
Note: Prior to flashing new software, download VIMS settings/information to help you reconfigure VIMS. Connect to VIMS main when prompted.
Note: If the configuration settings are changed, prior to flash change with the new software installation, reenter the Cat ET settings using the information of the PSR obtained prior to flash.
Improvements of VIMS
- Enhanced Ethernet IP address memory strategy to prevent resetting to zeros when set via Cat ET.
- Added support for display SIS Name, Field, and Location Code information during Cat ET flash.
- Added Equipment ID to display when configured through VIMSpc.
- Reversed CAN 1 (machine CAN) and CAN 2 (HPGPS CAN) functionality. Requires swapping set of CAN wires at ECM (Refer to Special Instruction , SEHS0694 , "New Software Installation Procedure For VIMS Module On Certain Motor Graders" for more details).
- Enhanced VIMS ECM clock reports and Cat® MineStar System message timestamps to synchronize automatically with GPS (UTC) Time, adjusted for leap second changes.
- Improved VIMS ECM power down sequence to prevent the ECM from potentially staying ON, upon key OFF.
- Improved logic to prevent VIMS from losing GPS and correction communications, when physical Ethernet connection to TOPE gets interrupted.
- Corrected SMH reporting to TOPE (Cat MineStar System onboard display).
- Improved message response to Cat MineStar System when asked to create and push a cycle timer file that it is not supported in all applications.
- Added new message support for Cat MineStar System, indicated successful file push.
- Enhanced message reporting to Cat MineStar System, for instances where a file push failure occurs.
- Introduced support for a new Cat MineStar System message that contains current content of VIMS EAL report (Active Event List).
- Enhanced HPGPS time reporting, to prevent invalid time from being reported momentarily at key ON.
- Enhanced HPGPS error reporting to TOPE, when there is a loss of GPS signal.
- Added support for new ECM hardware P/N with suffix "TR".
- Enhanced support to accept VIMS configuration with uppercase file extension.
The configuration changes of 485-4413 Monitor Software Gp are listed below:
- Enhanced VIMS web page header to read VIMS module, instead of VIMS 3G.
- Enhanced HPGPS error reporting to TOPE, when there is a loss of GPS signal.
- Enhanced VIMS ECM clock to adjust for GPS leap second changes automatically.
- Enhanced fuel pressure histogram reporting boundary.
- Enhanced Cat MineStar System event messages to include ground speed.
- Added diagnostic support for detecting high (168-03) and low (168-04) system voltage.
