New tire options are now used for shipping the machines listed above. Caterpillar will discontinue shipping certain Motor-Graders with wooden or basic tires. Instead, these machines will be equipped with a more disposable rubber option. Rubber shipping tires will also improve machine operation while loading and unloading.

NOTICE

The maximum operating speed for a Motor Grader equipped with shipping tires is 11 km/h (7 mph).


Removal and Installation Procedure

(A) Ring Lock

(B) Flange Assembly

(C) Rim Assembly

  1. Remove outer lock ring (A) and flange (B) as referenced in Illustration 3.

  1. Bump the shipping tire off rim assembly (C) using a large rubber mallet.

  1. Install the preferred tire onto the rim assembly.

    Note: Follow the tire installation procedure recommended by the tire manufacturer.

  1. Dispose of the rubber shipping tires following local regulations.
