SUBJECT: Industrial and petroleum engines 3412E, C-10, and C-15 oil level gauges (dip sticks) are sliding out of the tube assembly when it is tightened.
PROBLEM: When the tube assembly is being tightened, the oil level gauges (dip sticks) are sliding out of the tube assembly. The engines that are listed above are affected with this issue. These engines are equipped with tube assembly part numbers 246-7031, 246-7033, 237-7562, 237-7560, and 248-4870.
SOLUTION: Tap the tube assembly with a 4C-5007 (1-14) tap. This will create a slip free surface for the gauge to press against. Care must be taken to prevent metal chips from falling down the tube assembly.
