ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "C9 Marine Engines and C9 Marine Generator Sets". Refer to "Cylinder Head - Remove". Refer to "Lifter Group - Remove and Install". If the Lifter Bore is damaged because of a lifter or clip failure please refer to the below procedure to repair the block instead of replacing it. Refer to "Reuse and Salvage of C9 Lifter Bores SEBF9389". Inspect all valve lifters and camshaft lobes for evidence of excessive wear on the spring guide slot in the lifter body, broken spring guides, roller pin damage in the lifter body, damage to the roller pin retaining ears, lifter roller wear or cam lobe wear from the lifters turning in the lifter bore. On engines manufactured prior to December 15, 2011, refer to Reuse And Salvage Guidelines, SEBF9008 for the procedure to rework the cylinder block.
