Note: Lubricate all pin bores and both pins with Tooling (K) before installation.

    Note: The following steps are for the assembly of the lower hitch bearings.

  1. Position cap (34) and install four bolts (32) that are equally spaced. Ensure that cap (34) is seated firmly against the frame.

  2. Lower the temperature of lower bearing cups (39). Use Tooling (J) in order to install lower bearing cup (39) so that lower bearing cup (39) contacts cap (37). Apply clean oil to lower bearing cone (40) and install lower bearing cone (40).

  3. Apply clean oil to upper bearing cone (40) and install upper bearing cone (40). Lower the temperature of upper bearing cup (39). Use Tooling (J) in order to install upper bearing cup (39) until light contact pressure is made on cones (40).

  4. Remove bolts (32) and cap (34).

  5. Position shims (38). Install caps (33) and (34) with four evenly spaced bolts (32).

  6. Install Tooling (H) (not shown). Use a suitable torque wrench and Tooling (H) (not shown) in order to measure the rolling torque. Adjust the number of shims (38) in order to achieve a rolling torque that is between 1.4 N·m (12 lb in) and 5.6 N·m (49 lb in). Remove Tooling (H) (not shown).

  7. Remove bolts (32) and caps (33) and (34).

  8. Use Tooling (J) in order to install lip seal (36) in cap (33) and lip seal (37) in cap (34). Lubricate lip seals (36) and (37) with oil.

  9. Install spacer (35) into cap (33).

  10. Position the required number of shims (38) . Position caps (34) and (33). Install bolts (32).

  11. Connect hose assembly (31).

    Note: The following steps are for the assembly of the upper hitch bearings.

  12. Position cap (24) and install three bolts (22) that are equally spaced. Ensure that cap (24) is seated firmly against the frame. Apply Tooling (K) to the bores.

  13. Lower the temperature of lower bearing cup (27). Use Tooling (J) in order to install lower bearing cup (27) so that lower bearing cup (27) contacts cap (24). Apply clean oil to lower bearing cone (28) and install lower bearing cone (28).

  14. Apply clean oil to upper bearing cone (28) and install upper bearing cone (28). Lower the temperature of upper bearing cup (27). Use Tooling (J) in order to install upper bearing cup (27) so that light contact pressure is made with upper bearing cone (28).

  15. Remove bolts (22) and cap (24).

  16. Position shims (23). Position caps (21) and (24) and install three bolts (22) that are evenly spaced.

  17. Install Tooling (H) (not shown). Use a suitable torque wrench and Tooling (H) (not shown) in order to measure the rolling torque. Adjust the number of shims (23) in order to achieve a rolling torque that is between 2.3 N·m (20 lb in) and 13.6 N·m (120 lb in). Remove Tooling (H) (not shown).

  18. Remove bolts (22) and caps (21) and (24).

  19. Use Tooling (J) in order to install lip seal (26) to cap (24). Use Tooling (J) in order to install lip seal (25) to cap (21).

  20. Position the required number of shims (23) (not shown). Position caps (24) and (21). Install bolts (22).

  21. Lower the temperature of sleeve bearings (29) and (30). Install sleeve bearings (29) and (30) in the upper rear hitch.

  22. Attach Tooling (H) a suitable lifting device to the front frame and apply slight lifting tension.

    Note: Do not exceed the lifting capacity of Tooling (H).

  23. Remove Tooling (G) from the front frame. Use a suitable lift truck and the suitable lifting device in order to align the pin bores of the front frame and the rear frame.

  24. Use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device attached in Step 22 in order to align the pin bores.

    Note: Do not exceed the lifting capacity of Tooling (H).

  25. Lower the temperature of pin assembly (18) to −50° ± 5°C (−58° ± 9°F) and install pin assembly (18). Install bolt (19).

  26. Install spacer (17) to the lower hitch.

  27. Lower the temperature of pin (16). Install pin (16).

  28. Measure the distance between the face of spacer (17) and the frame. Record at least four measurements in four different locations around spacer (17). Using the smallest measurement, subtract 0.25 mm (0.010 inch). The final distance is the correct shim thickness.

  29. Install shims (15) equal to the thickness recorded in Step 28.

  30. Install plate (14). Install bolts (12). Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 100 ± 20 N·m (75 ± 15 lb ft).

    Note: Pin (16) must still be in a frozen state when bolts (13) are installed.

  31. Install bolts (13). Tighten bolts (13) to an initial torque of 250 ± 40 N·m (184 ± 30 lb ft).

  32. When pin (16) has reached ambient temperature. Double torque bolts (13) using an alternating sequence with a dynamic torque of 620 ± 30 N·m (457 ± 22 lb ft) to achieve a minimum static torque of 490 N·m (361 lb ft).

  33. Remove Tooling (H) and the suitable lifting device from the loader frame.

  34. Remove the suitable cribbing from the rear frame.

  36. Release the pressure from Tooling (F) in order to apply the parking break. Remove Tooling (F).

  38. Position the steering cylinder. Install pin assembly (9) and install bolt (10). Connect hose assembly (8). Repeat for the opposite steering cylinder.

  39. Install bracket assembly (7). Connect hose assemblies (6).

  40. Connect harness assembly (5) and install clamp (4).

  41. Connect two hose assemblies (3). Connect two hose assemblies (2). connect five hose assemblies (1).

  42. Fill the hydraulic tank with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the correct filling procedure.

End By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock.

  2. Install the center drive shaft.

  3. Install the cab.
