This article describes the recommended method for removing the 241-4559 Holder for cutter bits used on certain cold planers. When removing 241-4559 Holders from the cold planer rotor the use of heat should not be considered. Use of heat to remove the tool holder reduces (soften) the hardness of the tool holder blocks. The softer material will allow more stretch of the tool holder block bore and reduce service life.
The recommended method for removing tool holders, depending on the condition of the holder uses two tools. In most cases the 372-7066 Extraction Tool can be used. If, the tool holder is broken off in such a way that the removal flange is missing use the 378-4294 Extraction Tool. Use the 378-4294 Extraction Tool along with the 372-7066 Extraction Tool. Further usage of these tools and associated rotor service tools can be found by referring to Service Magazine, SEPD1546, "New Rotor Service Tools Are Available for Certain Cold Planers".
