Reference: Service Magazine; November 30, 1992; Page 10; "Left Handed Threads In Compressor Nut On Some Caterpillar Turbocharger" for Caterpillar Engines Equipped With A Turbocharger.
All service literature with torque-turn specifications will replace "torque only" specifications. Use the following procedure for tightening:
1. Put the compressor wheel on the shaft.
2. Tighten the nut as stated in the pre-torque column of the chart.
3. Remove the nut and apply 6V1541 Quick Cure Primer on the threads of the shaft and nut followed by application of 9S3265 Retaining Compound.
4. Tighten the nut as stated in the final torque-turn column of the chart.
Caution: Tighten and loosen in a manner that does not impose bending loads on the shaft. (Use a universal drive and/or T-handle socket wrench.)
