Usage:
G3406 (4FD),
G3408 (6NB),
G3412 (7DB) Engines
A 1047745 Resistor has been installed in the magneto shutdown circuit for engines equipped with self-powered shutdown protection systems with air or electric start. The resistor protects the shutoff contactors from excessive power during engine shutdown.
The illustration shows the circuit after installation of the resistor.
Self-Powered Shutdown System
Installation instructions follow for engines without the resistor in the magneto shutdown circuit.
1. Locate the connection TS1 in the junction box.
2. Detach the G-pin wire at TS1.
3. Reattach the G-pin wire at TS4.
4. Connect TS4 and TS1 with the 100 ohm (2 watt) resistor assembly (Caterpillar Part No. 1047745).
5. Remove jumper connecting TS3 and TS4.
6. Remove jumper connecting TS4 and TS5.
7. Install jumper connecting TS3 and TS5.
