    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from contact with refrigerant.

    Contact with refrigerant can cause frost bite. Keep face and hands away to help prevent injury.

    Protective goggles must always be worn when refrigerant lines are opened, even if the gauges indicate the system is empty of refrigerant.

    Always use precaution when a fitting is removed. Slowly loosen the fitting. If the system is still under pressure, release it slowly in a well ventilated area.

    Personal injury or death can result from inhaling refrigerant through a lit cigarette.

    Inhaling air conditioner refrigerant gas through a lit cigarette or other smoking method or inhaling fumes released from a flame contacting air conditioner refrigerant gas, can cause bodily harm or death.

    Do not smoke when servicing air conditioners or wherever refrigerant gas may be present.

    Use a certified recovery and recycling cart to properly remove the refrigerant from the air conditioning system.


  1. Recover the air conditioner refrigerant from the air conditioner system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134a Refrigerant" for the procedure. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Air Conditioning Tools" for the tools.

  1. Close shutoff valves (1) and (2) by turning the valves clockwise.

  2. Remove bolts (3) and remove plate (4). Use two people in order to remove the plate.

  3. Disconnect hoses (7) and (8) for the heater . Disconnect hose assemblies (5) and (6). Disconnect ground strap (9).

  4. Disconnect harness assembly (10).

  5. Disconnect harness assemblies (11) and (12) that are located under the front of the cab.

  6. Remove bolts (13) and remove belt (14). Remove bolts (15) and remove plate (16).

  7. Disconnect harness assemblies (17) and (18). .

  8. Open the covers for the cab lights, as shown. Attach a suitable lifting device with Tooling (A) to the cab, as shown.

  9. Remove three outer cab mounting bolts (19).

  10. The fourth cab mounting bolt (20) is accessed from the inside of the cab. Remove bolt (20) that is located on the right rear of the inside of the cab. Remove the cab. The weight of the cab is approximately 1225 kg (2700 lb).

    Note: The air conditioner may be removed in order to gain better access to the fourth cab mounting bolt. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134a Refrigerant" for the procedure. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Air Conditioning Tools" for the tools.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install cab In the reverse order of removal.

    1. Install four cab mounting bolts (19). Torque bolts (19) to a torque of 2700 ± 300 N·m (1991 ± 221 lb ft)
