Standard Oval And High Temperature Oval Head Seals Available For Certain Hydraulic Cylinder Applications{7555,5102,5456}

Usage:

All Machines So Equipped

Several standard oval, and high temperature oval head seals are available for use in certain hydraulic cylinder applications. A high temperature can rupture the standard oval seal in loader lift cylinders or excavator boom cylinders. If ruptures of the standard oval seals are occurring due to high temperature, use the high temperature oval seals to stop the failures.

See Illustration 1 for the typical location of the oval head seal (or high temperature oval head seal) in a cylinder assembly. Both types of seals are available to fit either standard bore diameter cylinders with regular head seal problems, or oversize bore diameter cylinders. The seals are used in addition to the normally used head seal and back-up ring on standard bore cylinders.

The normally used head seal and back-up ring are omitted in 0.76 mm (.030") and 1.52 mm (.060") oversize bore cylinders. The seals are adaptable to all cylinders with the correct lead-in chamfer for the bore size. See Illustration 2. Use the chart to cross reference the bore size to the standard oval seal and/or the high temperature oval seal.
