Swing Drive Oil Sample - Obtain
The dipstick for the swing drive oil is on the swing drive at the rear base of the boom.
- Open the hood. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hood Tilting" for the procedure.

- Obtain a sample of the final drive oil through the dipstick tube. Use a fluid sampling pump to obtain an oil sample from a nonpressurized oil system. Consult your Caterpillar dealer for the current part number for the fluid sampling pump.
- Insert dipstick (1).
- Close the hood.
Refer to Special Publication, SEBU6250, "S·O·S Oil Analysis" for information that pertains to obtaining a sample of the swing drive oil. Refer to Special Publication, PEHP6001, "How To Take A Good Oil Sample" for more information about obtaining a sample of the swing drive oil.
