The following rework procedure eliminates the water and debris running back down the glass after the wiper pushes up to the top of the door or side window. This procedure addresses this issue by adjusting the park position of the wiper to the top of the door. This procedure is optional because in cold conditions ice lines can form at the park positions which can result in premature wear of the upper wiper blade.

Wiper arms (3) positioned in the upper end of the travel

  1. Rotate motor crank (2) to 180 degrees. When rotating the motor crank, wiper arms (3) move from the lower end of the travel to the upper end of the travel. Refer to Illustration 3 and Illustration 4.

  1. Tighten nut (1) to 20 ± 2 N·m (177 ± 18 lb in). While tightening nut (1), hold motor crank (2) in order to prevent the motor crank from spinning.

Optional Rework Procedure for the Side Windows

    Front view of cab

  1. Remove the wiper arms from side window wiper motor group (4) and side window wiper motor group (5) .

  1. Swap the optional side window wiper motor group (4) and side window wiper motor group (5). Place the wiper arms in the upright position as shown in illustration 5.

  1. Tighten nut (1) to 7.5 ± 0.5 N·m (66.4 ± 4.4 lb in).

  1. Tighten nut (2) to 9 ± 1 N·m (80 ± 9 lb in).

  1. Tighten nut (3) to 21 ± 1 N·m (186 ± 9 lb in).

  1. Wait for minimum 0.5 hour and maximum of 4 hours.

  1. Again tighten nut (3) to 21 ± 1 N·m (186 ± 9 lb in).
