Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement. Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before moving the machine to perform the test that follows. |

Navigate to either the "Measured Slope/Target Slope" screen or the "Measured Slope" screen on the messenger display before performing the valve calibration. Refer to Illustration 1 and 2. The valve calibration will not proceed if not in one of these two screens.
The following information will guide you with the valve calibrations using Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET).
- From the "Service" calibration menu, select "Calibrations". Then select "Cross Slope Valve Calibrations".

- Click on "OK" if you have read and understand the warning.
A window similar to Illustration 6 appears.
The user can select to perform either of the calibrations or both.

Note: The warning shown in Illustration 5 will appear after selecting the calibration from the menu item. The warning warns of the dangers of the calibration and that the user needs to read and understand the machine service literature prior to proceeding.
- Follow the instructions in Cat ET.
Note: All conditions in Step 3.a through Step 3.f must be met prior to clicking "Next".
- Engage the parking brake.
- The hydraulic oil temperature must be between 59° C (138° F).
- Position the blade just off the ground.
- Center the circle under the frame.
- Side-shift the blade until the blade is centered with the machine.
- Position the blade so the blade is perpendicular to the machine direction of travel.
Note: The blade should not touch the ground during this calibration.
Note: If all conditions have not been met, then the user is reminded again in the section above the steps (1). Refer to Illustration 8.

- To set the work tool lower limit, perform 4.a through Step 4.b. Then, click the "Next" button.
Note: The operator establishes lower limit of the slope angle by raising the left side of the blade until the angle displayed for the "Blade Slope Percentage" is within the angle range that is shown in Step 4.a.
- Raise the left side of the blade until the Blade Slope Angle is between 0.4 percent and 1.9 percent.
- Click the "Next" button when the Blade Slope Angle is between 0.4 percent and 1.9 percent. Ensure that the right side of the blade is not touching the ground.

- To set the work tool upper limit, raise the left side of the blade until the Blade Slope Angle is between 0.6 percent and 1.8 percent.
Note: The Implement Control Joystick must be in the neutral position before clicking the "Nest" button.

- Prepare for automated calibration. Set the engine speed to high idle.
Note: For optimal calibration results, the engine should be running at high idle during the automated portion of the calibration. If the engine speed is not at high idle when the "Next" button is clicked, then an error/warning may be displayed. Set the engine speed to high idle and click the "Next" button again.

- Toggle the Left Auto/Manual Switch in order to start the calibration
The work tool will move automatically when the procedure is started. The section above the steps (1) indicates the status of the calibration.
Note: Pressing and releasing the left auto/manual switch will cause the ECM to begin the automated steps in the calibration procedure. In the first automated step the blade may move slowly and may not appear to be moving. The operator must remain in the seat and no one else should be near the machine during this time. If unsure of progress, cancel the calibration.
