NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


Note: Inspect the O-ring seals, the seals, and the gaskets. Replace the O-ring seals, the seals, and the gaskets that are worn or damaged.

Note: Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  1. Install bearing (26). Install retaining ring (25). Install bearing cap (24).

  2. Attach Tooling (A) onto front wheel, brake, and suspension cylinder (20).

    Note: Ensure that the retaining chain is fastened securely around the suspension cylinder.

  3. Remove Tooling (D). Use Tooling (A) to remove front wheel, brake, and suspension cylinder (20) from Tooling (C). The weight of front wheel, brake, and suspension cylinder (20) is approximately 3574 kg (7880 lb).

  4. Install key (23) onto the frame assembly.

  5. Use Tooling (A) to install front wheel, brake, and suspension cylinder (20). The weight of front wheel, brake, and suspension cylinder (20) is approximately 3574 kg (7880 lb).

  6. Install new bolts (22). Install new bolts (21). Repeat this step for the opposite side of suspension cylinder (20).

  7. Position Tooling (B) as shown in Illustration 9 to support front wheel, brake, and suspension cylinder (20). Refer to Tool Operating Manual , NEHS1303, "Lift Group (Stand - 25 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (B).

  8. Tighten bolts (22) to a torque of 2700 ± 275 N·m (1991 ± 203 lb ft). Tighten bolts (21) to a torque of 1825 ± 175 N·m (1346 ± 129 lb ft).

  9. Remove Tooling (A) from front wheel, brake, and suspension cylinder (20).

  10. Install shims (19). Install bolts (18).

  11. Install clips (17). Connect grease hose assembly (16).

  12. Connect harness assembly (15).

  14. Install blocks (13) and bolts (12). Connect hose assembly (11).

  15. Connect hose assembly (10).

  16. Position bracket (9). Connect hose assemblies (8) and hose assembly (7).

  17. Use a suitable lifting device to position steering arm (6), steering link (3), and steering cylinder assembly (2). The weight of steering arm (6), steering link (3), and steering cylinder assembly (2) is approximately 362 kg (800 lb).

  18. Install bolts (5). Connect grease hose assemblies (4).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury or death can result from air in the oil for the brake hydraulic system.

    Air in the system can prevent complete brake application and it is possible that the wheels on the machine can not be stopped.

    Air must not be in the oil for the brake hydraulic system to function properly.


  19. Remove the air from the service and parking brakes. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Brake System Air - Purge".

  20. Fill the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hoist, Torque Converter and Brake Tank Oil - Change".

  21. Charge the suspension cylinder. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Suspension Cylinder (Front) - Purge and Charge".

End By:

  1. Install the front tire and rim.
