Left Side of Instrument Panel

(1) Generator control switch

Generator control switch (1) is located on the left side of the instrument panel.

Generator control switch (1) is a toggle switch with two positions. The top position of the switch is the ON position. The bottom position of the switch is the OFF position. When the generator control switch is in the ON position, a ground signal is sent to terminal "J2-29" of the operator control unit.

If the engine is operating at low idle when generator control switch (1) is moved to the ON position, the engine speed will increase to the elevated idle speed of 1275 ± 50 rpm on machines that are equipped with a belt drive generator and 1275 ± 50 rpm on machines that are equipped with a hydraulic drive generator. If the engine speed is greater than the elevated idle speed when the generator switch is moved to the ON position, the engine speed will remain unchanged.

Left Side of Machine

(2) Electrical outlets

(3) Tool enable switch

The optional power panel is located on the left side of the machine. The panel provides two electrical outlets (2) at 105 VAC or (2) at 210 VAC to supply power for electrical lighting and tools. The electrical outlets are protected by a circuit breaker on the generator.

The generator power panel is equipped with tool enable switch (3). The tool enable function sets the engine speed in order to produce power from the generator at the frequency that is required by tools and accessories. The tool enable switch has the same effect on the engine. This is true whether a machine is equipped with a hydraulic drive generator or a belt drive generator.

Tool enable switch (3) is a toggle switch with two positions. The bottom position is the OFF position. The top position is the ON position. When this switch is in the ON position, the machine ECM reads a ground signal at terminal "J1-63".

When tool enable switch (3) is in the ON position, the machine ECM prompts the engine ECM to maintain the engine speed at the elevated idle speed of 1100 rpm. An engine speed of 1100 rpm produces a output frequency from the generator of 50 ± 3 Hz. If the engine is operating above the elevated idle speed when the tool enable switch is moved to the ON position, the engine speed will slow to the elevated idle speed.

When tool enable switch (3) is in the OFF position and generator switch (1) is in the ON position, the machine ECM prompts the engine ECM to maintain the engine speed at the elevated idle speed of 1275 ± 50 rpm for both the hydraulic drive generator and the belt drive generator. In this situation the engine speed is allowed to go above the elevated idle point but the engine speed is never allowed to go below the elevated idle point.

If the engine is operating at low idle when generator control switch (1) is moved to the ON position, the engine speed will increase to the elevated idle speed of 1275 ± 50 rpm.
