Removal Procedure

1. Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.

2. Remove cotter pins (2) from each side of steering linkage (1) .

3. Loosen nuts (3) in order to show approximately 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) of thread.

4. Use Tooling (A) in order to press ball stud (4) out of left leg (5). Repeat the procedure on the right leg.

5. Use two people to remove steering linkage (1). The weight of steering linkage (1) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

1. Use two people to install steering linkage (1). Insert ball studs (4) into right leg (5). Repeat the procedure on the left leg.

2. Install nuts (3) onto ball studs (4). Tighten nuts (3) to a torque of 1356 N·m (1000 lb ft). If cotter pin (2) will not fit, advance to the next slot on nuts (3) .

3. Install cotter pins (2) .

4. Turn the disconnect switch to the ON position.
