Use the following procedure in order to change the pressure equalization time of the ride control system.

The pressure equalization time for the ride control is the transition between OFF and ON. This transition is the time that is required to equalize the pressure between the ride control accumulator and the lift cylinders.

Note: When the ride control system is activated and the pressure between the accumulator and the lift cylinders is not equal, the lift arms will raise depending on the load or the lift arms will drop.

The factory setting of pressure equalization time for the 950H and 962H Wheel Loader is 3 seconds.

The ride control system changes from OFF to ON more quickly when a lower value is entered. Likewise, the transition of the ride control system from OFF to ON is slower when a higher value is entered. For example, setting the time to a greater value will result in more time in order to balance the accumulator with the lift cylinders. Now, more time is required for the ride control system to go from OFF to ON after the switch is placed in the ON position. The ride control system requires more time to equalize when the hydraulic oil is cold.

Dash Panel

Connect the 7X-1425 Data Link Cable to an available COM port on your PC and to the connector on the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter . Connect the 139-4166 Data Link Cable to the connector on the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter and to the service connector on the machine.

Note: The service connector is located on the right side of the dash panel. Remove the cover in order to access the connector for the Caterpillar Electronic Technician.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Start the CAT Electronic Technician program.

  1. Select "Transmission 950H/962H" and the "OK" button.

  1. Select "Service" and the "OK" button. Then, select "Configuration" and the "OK" button.

  1. If an adjustment to the pressure equalization time for the ride control is required, select "Ride Control Pressure Equalization Time" and select the "Change" button on the lower left side of the screen.

  1. Enter the new value in seconds and the "OK" button.

  1. Exit Caterpillar Electronic Technician.
