Forward Currents (EDC)- Calibrate

Usage:

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.

Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.

To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.

Injury to personnel can result if they are not in the operator's view. Allow only essential personnel near the machine, and make sure the personnel are in the operator's view when testing, to prevent injury. Make sure checks are done in an open area.


------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts.

Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts.

Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running unless otherwise specified.

The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped.


  1. Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

  2. Move propulsion lever (3) to the NEUTRAL position.

  3. Rotate speed dial (2) to the MINIMUM position.

  4. Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.

  5. Move screed lift switch (4) to the RAISE position. Completely lift the screed.

  6. Engage screed lock mechanism (5) on both sides of the machine.

  7. Move screed lift switch (4) to the FLOAT position.

  8. Move throttle control switch (6) to the HIGH IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second. The engine speed should increase to 2200 rpm.

  9. Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature on the operator display. Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 43° ± 5.6°C (110° ± 10°F).

  10. Press home key (7).

  11. Press down key (8) until "Service" is highlighted on the display screen.

  12. Press "OK" key (9).

  13. Press down key (8) until "Calibrations" is highlighted on the display screen.

  14. Press "OK" key (9).

  15. Press down key (8) until "Forward Currents" is highlighted on the display screen.

  16. Press "OK" key (9).

  17. Press "OK" key (9) in order to begin the calibration.

  18. Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.

  19. Rotate speed dial (2) to the midrange position.

  20. Move propulsion mode switch (10) to the PAVE position.

  21. Move propulsion lever (3) to the NEUTRAL position.

  22. Press "OK" key (9).

    Note: If the display does not advance after pressing the "OK" key, observe the display and make sure all required conditions are met.

  23. Move parking brake switch (1) to the OFF position.

    Note: The parking brake switch on the inactive instrument panel must also be in the OFF position.

  24. Move propulsion lever (3) to the FULL FORWARD position.

  25. Press "OK" key (9).

    Note: If the display does not advance after pressing the OK key, observe the display and make sure all required conditions are met.

  26. The display should now read "Calibrating initial current for forward pumps".

    Note: At this point, the system is performing the coarse calibration of the initial current for the propulsion pumps.

  27. Move propulsion lever (3) to the NEUTRAL position.

  28. Move propulsion lever (3) to the FULL FORWARD position.

  29. Display should read "Calibrating initial current for forward pumps".

    Note: At this point, the system is performing the fine calibration of the initial current for the propulsion pumps.

  30. Move the propulsion lever to the NEUTRAL position.

  31. The display should now read "CALIBRATION COMPLETE". Push back key (11) in order to return to the calibration screen.

  32. Push home key (7) in order to exit the calibration screen.

  33. Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.

  34. Move throttle control switch (6) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

  35. After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (12) to the OFF position.
