Valve Mechanism Group

Usage:

(1) Locknut. Tighten locknut to a torque of ... 25 ± 7 N·m (18 ± 5 lb ft)

(2) Valve roker arm assembly.

(3) Valve clearance (with engine stopped).

Intake valves ... 0.38 mm (.015 in)

Exhaust valves ... 0.64 mm (.025 in)

NOTE: After setting valve clearance, tighten adjusting screw locknut to a torque of 25 ± 7 N·m (18 ± 5 lb ft). Then, recheck the valve clearance.

(4) Rocker arm shaft. Diameter of shaft (new) ... 30.000 ± 0.010 mm (1.1811 ± .0004 in)

(5) Valve bridge assembly.

Bridge Installation Instructions:

a. Lubricate bridge dowel, bridge bore and top pad of bridge with engine oil.

b. Install bridge assembly on bridge dowel.

c. While firmly pressing [0.5 to 4.5 kg (1 to 10 lb)] straight down on the bridge pad, turn the adjusting screw clockwise until contact is made with the valve stem.

d. Turn the screw clockwise and additional 45° (1/8 turn) to straighten the dowel in the guide and compensate for slack in the threads.

e. Hold the adjusting screw in this position and tighten the locknut to a torque of 25 ± 7 N·m (18 ± 5 lb ft).

(6) Lifter group shaft.

Diameter of shaft (new) ... 20.000 ± 0.010 mm (.7874 ± .0004 in)

Bore diameter in body of valve lifter assembly ... 20.050 ± 0.015 mm (.7894 ± .0006 in)

(7) Valve lifter assembly.
