Removal Procedure

1. Raise the screed. Install tow point cylinder pins (1) in the same position on both sides.

2. The screed must be at the null point before you work on the screed plates. Lower the screed on a flat surface.

3. Turn both thickness controls (2) to the null position. Turn the thickness controls until you feel slack in the controls. The controls will turn easily with no drag when the controls are in the null position. Check both controls for null.

4. Set the crown to zero.

5. Install a piece of threaded rod (3) , four washers (5) , and four nuts (4) between the two main frame assemblies.

6. Raise the screed. Extend the extenders. Move the extenders to the maximum slope.

7. Remove the center bolt under each height adjuster group.

8. Return the extenders to zero slope and retract the extenders. Lower the screed.

9. Remove remaining bolts (6) under each height adjuster group.

10. Remove bolts (7) . Tilt cover (8) to the side and disconnect harness assemblies (9) .

11. Place screed walkway (10) in the upright position.

12. Remove bolts (12) in order to remove temperature sensor group (11) .

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force. Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

13. Remove nuts (13) and the washers.

14. Remove nuts (14) , the washers, and springs (15) .

15. Raise the screed. Use a lift truck and remove screed plate (16) . The weight of screed plate (16) is approximately 169 kg (372 lb).

16. If necessary, remove the studs from screed plate (16) .

Installation Procedure

1. Apply Tooling (A) on the threads of the studs. Tighten the studs to a torque of 104 N·m (77 lb ft).

2. Use a lift truck and position screed plate (16) underneath the screed. The weight of screed plate (16) is approximately 169 kg (372 lb). Lower the screed on the screed plate.

3. Lower the screed onto screed plate (16) .

4. Install the washer and nuts (13) . Tighten nuts (13) to a torque of 71 N·m (52 lb ft). Use a wrench in order to keep the adjusters from rotating.

5. Install springs (15) , the washers, and nuts (14) on the studs. Tighten nuts (14) in order to compress the springs to a height of 52 ± 2 mm (2.0 ± 0.1 inch). Use a wrench in order to keep the adjusters from rotating.

6. Apply Tooling (C) on the bottom of temperature sensor group (11) . Install temperature sensor group (11) and bolts (12) .

8. Tilt cover (8) to the side and connect harness assemblies (9) . Install bolts (7) .

9. Install bolts (6) under each height adjuster group. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 370 N·m (273 lb ft).

10. Raise the screed. Extend the extenders. Move the extenders to the maximum slope.

11. Install the center bolt under each height adjuster group. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 370 N·m (273 lb ft).

12. Return the extenders to zero slope and retract the extenders. Lower the screed.

13. Remove four nuts (4) , four washers (5) , and threaded rod (3) .

14. Raise the screed. Remove the tow point cylinder pins (1) .

End By: Adjust the screed plates. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Screed - Check/Adjust"for the correct procedure.
