Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the right engine side guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Side Guard (Right) - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all harness assemblies, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities - Refill" for the capacity of the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change" or Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant - Change" for the proper draining procedure.

  1. Disconnect hose (1) .

  1. Remove bolts (2) and clip (3) .

  1. Disconnect harness assembly (5) .

  1. Remove bolts (6) .

  1. Remove bonnet (4) .

  1. Loosen clamp (9) . Disconnect hose (10) . Remove bolts (7) . Remove cover (8) .

  1. Remove bolts (11) . Remove water pump (12) .
