Introduction

This Special Instruction provides the necessary information in order to improve the retention of sliding windows on Vibratory Soil Compactors.

  1. Place a screwdriver or a similar wedge between the window frame and the ROPS post in order to remove the bow from the window frame. The screwdriver should be placed in the center of the window along the edge toward the front of the machine.

  1. Check the operation of the window. If the window does not move freely, remove some of the tension on the window frame.

  1. Fill the center section of the window frame with a 100 mm (4 inch) to 127 mm (5 inch) long bead of 185-3986 RTV Silicone Sealant .

  1. Spread the silicone to a smooth bead.

  1. Leave the screwdriver in place. Allow the silicone to dry overnight.

  1. After the RTV Silicone Sealant has dried, remove the screwdriver.

  1. Raise the lower window to the highest position.

  1. Lower the upper window so the latches rest on the top of the lower window.

  1. Install 9X-2532 Seal (1) into 187-5386 Rail As (2). Use a screwdriver to seat seal (1) into rail assembly (2) .

  1. Lubricate seal (1) with water.

  1. Place the rail assembly and seal on the lower edge of the outer window. The weather strip should face the inside of the cab.

  1. Tap rail assembly (2) onto the window with a dead blow hammer or a rubber mallet until rail assembly (2) is completely seated.

  1. Trim any excess rubber from the window frame.
